On 5 June 2023, Apple held its 34th Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which is eagerly awaited every year. While users look forward to the announcement of new features and new hardware, IT departments focus their attention primarily on changes that play a role in device management in companies, make their daily work easier, provide greater security or enhance the user experience for employees.

This year, IT professionals once again had plenty to take note of:

  • It is becoming increasingly clear that device management as we know it today will likely be replaced by declarative device management in the future.
  • Managed Apple IDs can now be used for new use cases.
  • The ‘Return to Service’ feature provides a successful middle ground for resetting devices.
  • Security and privacy can be enhanced on iPhones and iPads.
  • It is becoming easier to share Macs and iPads with multiple users.
  • For the first time, there are management options for Apple Watches.
  • With the announcement of Apple Vision Pro, Apple is now entering the world of spatial computing.
